Reading opens doors.
It opened doors for you;
it will open doors for our students.

Indy Reads is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Indy Reads was founded in 1984 as the Greater Indianapolis Literacy League (GILL) by several librarians and a group of community activists. The name was changed in 1998 to Indy Reads.

The program serves adults 18 years of age and older in Marion County who read at or below the sixth grade level or who are learning English as a new language.

Programming and operational funding is generated through donations, fund raising efforts, grants and in-kind support.

Indy Reads is accredited by ProLiteracy America, a national organization dedicated to the cause of literacy.
